Paint Pots

How can liquid become form? How does paint become a vessel? Combining leftover paint, wire, mixed-media, and papier-mache made from torn drawings and shredded paintings, we create functional cachepots for plants and flowers and living sculptures. These indeterminate forms transform paint into durable and growing structures.

We’ve concocted a sculptural material we call mud to make our pots. The mud can be tinted to any color or we mix in leftover paint to specifically reference to another body of work in the studio.

Standing empty, breathing stillness, or filled with living plants and flowers.

These objects convey a moment in time when the mud transforms from a wet malleable state into an impenetrable, sturdy container for delicate life forms.
